Flood support center
When severe flooding occurs, staying informed means keeping your home and family safe, and VIU by HUB is here to help you stay one step ahead.
Preparing against flood-related losses
41 million people across the U.S. are exposed to flood risk, with 25% of related claims occurring in moderate- to low-risk areas. A VIU by HUB Advisor can help you understand your risk and find the right protection, or you can look up your address to see if it’s prone to flooding in the FEMA Flood Map Service Center.
FEMA estimates that just one inch of flood water can cause $25,000 in damage, but there are measures you can take to mitigate that risk. Elevating utilities, installing flood openings and waterproofing your basement are all ways to lower your flood risk as well as what you pay for your premium.
Get to know your community’s evacuation routes and emergency shelter locations. If there’s enough time, take photos of major household items and valuables and make sure any important documents are safe and secure. Turn off gas, power and water when power lines are down or before you evacuate.
Most homeowners policies don’t include flood insurance, even though it can be a crucial addition. Our advisors can review and amend your current insurance or find you a new policy to make sure you’re financially protected against water damage caused by flooding and other hazards.
